PRACTICE SUPERVISION
Structured space for reflective practice
In a landscape where transformation fatigue is real, the support practitioners need goes beyond more methods and frameworks.
Practice supervision is the strategic infrastructure for high-stakes change work. It is a structured, reflective partnership where your challenges become the source of your clarity, resilience, and impact.
My approach integrates three essential dimensions because lasting change requires that we attend to the practitioner, the interpersonal field, and the strategic work as one interconnected whole. This integrated framework transforms personal toll into professional mastery.
EMBODIED AWARENESS
The foundation of practitioner wellbeing
Your personal sustainability is not separate from your project's success, it is its foundation.
When we neglect the signs of overwhelm, vicarious trauma, or nervous system depletion, we don't just risk burnout; we compromise the quality of our decision-making, facilitation, and partnerships.
In our sessions, we treat your somatic and emotional experience not as a personal side issue, but as vital diagnostic data about the health of your work. We learn to:
Decode your body's signals (tension, shutdown, hyper-vigilance) as intelligent feedback on group dynamics and systemic stress.
Manage the cumulative weight of complex, trauma-affected work before it leads to crisis.
Build practices and boundaries that actively replenish your capacity, creating a sustainable inner resource from which to lead.
Why this matters for your work:
You cultivate the grounded presence needed to hold space for difficulty without being destabilised by it. This turns you from a practitioner at risk of burnout into a steady, resilient ally for your projects and communities, the key differentiator between initiatives that collapse under pressure and those that are forged into something stronger.

POWER ANALYSIS
Navigating the field with skill
Power isn't a peripheral issue it is the operating system of every project you undertake.
Most training focuses on methods while treating power dynamics as an abstract concept. Yet, who gets heard, who makes decisions, and whose knowledge is valued directly determine project success or failure.
We move from theory to practical navigation. In our sessions, we:
Decode power dynamics in your specific context - structural, interpersonal, intrapersonal and unspoken.
Examine your own social position and privilege not as confession, but as critical awareness that increases your effectiveness and ethical grounding.
Develop strategies to work with these dynamics skillfully, anticipate friction, and create genuine pathways for shared leadership.
Why this matters for your work:
You transform political tension and frustration into strategic clarity. This reduces project-stalling conflict, builds authentic trust across differences, and enables you to design processes that genuinely redistribute power - moving from participation theatre to meaningful co-creation.
PRACTICE DEVELOPMENT
Mastery in complexity
This is where insight becomes craft and where you grow from a competent facilitator to a transformative leader.
Even experienced practitioners have edges: high-stakes situations, complex conflicts, or contexts where standard methods fall short. This space is for deepening your unique professional artistry.
We focus on applied integration, working with what's alive in your practice:
Facilitation in high-stakes, trauma-affected environments where trust is fragile.
Navigating conflict that stems from historical harm or systemic inequality.
Adapting methdologies (like process-oriented psychology, systems thinking, emergent strategy, participatory design, Theory-U) to fit your real-world challenges and values.
Why this matters for your work:
You develop a tailored, sophisticated practice that reflects your strengths and the needs of your community. This builds the confidence and skill to meet the hardest challenges not with dread, but with a sense of resourcefulness and purpose, ensuring your methodology evolves as fluidly as the contexts you work in.
IS THIS A GOOD FIT FOR YOU?
You don't need to be 'together enough' for this work. If you're feeling overwhelmed, uncertain or burnt out, that isn't a barrier, it's often the most fertile starting point. The only requirement is a willingness to examine your practice with curiosity and honesty.
You’re likely a good fit if:
You facilitate community-led or systems change processes
You work at intersections of community and institutions
You want reflective partnership to transform struggle into strategic capacity, not just cope with it
You're committed to genuine community leadership and distributed power
You recognise this work takes a toll and want to transform that toll into insight
You value both analytical rigour and embodied/somatic awareness
You're ready to look at your own patterns and blind spots (even when uncomfortable)
This might not be right if:
You're looking for training in specific methods (I can refer you to excellent programs)
You want someone to tell you exactly what to do
You're not ready to examine your own power and position
You prefer purely intellectual/strategic approaches without embodied work
You need therapy for personal issues (I can refer you to appropriate support)

Detailed FAQ
-
A session is a protected hour where we slow the world down just enough to see the patterns moving within it. We begin by checking in with what's most alive for you - a challenging interaction, a feeling of stuckness, a project at a crossroads.
Together, we unpack it. Not as a problem to be quickly solved, but as a source of intelligence to be understood. We listen to what your body is signalling. We map the power dynamics at play. We explore what your practiced intuition is trying to tell you.
You will leave - not with a prescribed answer, but with clearer sight, a grounded strategy, and often a tangible sense of relief - the relief that comes when weight is shared and insight is witnessed. It is collaborative thinking at its deepest level: a conversation where your challenges become the curriculum for your own growth.
-
This is a common and important question. After our initial clarity conversation, I provide a dedicated "Partner with your organisation" toolkit with a one page overview and email template to help you initiate this discussion with clarity and confidence.
-
The best way to explore this is through a clarity conversation. We'll discuss what you're navigating, and I can share how the supervision partnership has supported others in similar situations. Common fits include roles in systems change, community-led innovation, policy reform, organisational transformation, co-design and community engagement.
-
The package provides structured professional development through six one-on-one sessions, typically spread over 6 months. It includes an initial goal setting conversation, confidential reflective space for the practitioner, and can be tailored to support specific organisational priorities or projects.
-
Yes. While sessions remain confidential for the practitioner's reflection, the overall package can be designed to support broader goals like building trauma-informed engagement capacity, strengthening community partnership practices, or navigating a specific complex project.
-
Organisations see a direct return through enhanced project outcomes (better facilitation, stakeholder navigation), increased staff retention (proactively addressing burnout), risk mitigation (managing vicarious trauma and project delays), and a stronger culture of reflective practice.
-
Sessions are completely confidential between you and the supervisor. Your organisation won't receive reports on session content or details of what you discuss, however, they may receive reports on learning outcomes, accountabilities and recommended outcomes - only if this is negotiated prior to the work commencing.
Otherwise, what organisations will see is the impact in your practice: stronger facilitation, better stakeholder relationships, enhanced outcomes on projects, and greater sustainability in navigating high-complexity work. This is the same confidentiality model used in clinical supervision, necessary for creating the safe space where deep reflective work happens.
-
Absolutely. I'm happy to schedule a separate 15-minute briefing with your manager to answer their questions about supervision, explain the value, and discuss how confidentiality works. This often helps them feel confident in supporting your participation.
-
We begin with a clear agreement covering your learning goals, session frequency, boundaries, confidentiality, and how we'll evaluate progress. This creates a safe, professional container for our work. Sessions themselves are a blend of reflective dialogue, somatic check-ins, and practical strategy.
